Scott's Solace by Lyn Brittan Blog Tour!

Book Description:

A standalone novella following the Gormly Clan...

When Jessica left the farm to start over in the city, she had her future all laid out. Too bad her plan for success went from super awesome to complete crap in twenty seconds, and all because of that stupid lightning catcher, Scott Ares. He looked a lot different from their small town days, all suited up and stuff, and it's not necessarily a bad look...

The only thing standing between Scott and his plan to destroy his father is Jessica Freaking Solak. The nerd he knew then and the tattooed motorcycle riding chick in front of him now couldn't be more different. Still, she's in the way and has gotta go. Although, it shouldn't cause too much drama if he kissed her once or twice first.

Excerpt:

His hands, all on their own, clasped around her waist and hoisted her up.
Her objection was a little vocal. And kick-y. “Put me down!”
“I’m trying to help.”
“You’re copping a feel!”
Okay, maybe it’d started out that way, but a bit of his finger grazed the space where her shirt and shorts met. The power in her, untapped energy, tingled his hand. “You grew up, Jessie.”
“Jessica.” She did a two-step away from him, but he knew she’d felt it too.
There had to be a million and one ways to play this to his advantage, but at the moment, he couldn’t think of one.
Really, he couldn’t think of a single thing beyond touching her again.
And that scared the shit out of him.

My Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

This book was definitely different and this author (Lyn Brittan) surely has a unique voice in this story. & I loved the dynamic between Jessica and Scott so much so that I was giddy with joy.

But, there was something about this story that never truly clicked with me. I'm not really sure what it was, but it was a slight nagging feeling throughout my read of this book. But everything else about this book was fantastic.

I do plan on re-reading this book in the future and maybe I'll love it more.

My Review:

My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

I honestly quite enjoyed this story. I loved the writing style and instantly found that I was thrust into a magical world filled with forbidden love and evil around every corner.

Madeline Noel has magical abilities that consist of her perfect voice, screams that kill, and laughter that shatters. Basically remindinded me of a Greek Siren that lures men to their deaths with their beautiful voice. I thought Madeline was a fairly strong protagonist and I loved her dynamic with Damascus. Their love was so cute and swoon worthy.

I really highly recommend this book to anyone mature and who loves literature about Gods/Goddesses.

My Review:

My Rating: 4/5 stars

I love almost everything about this book! The cover is gorgeous. The characters are lovable and I was rooting for my favorites the entire time. I loved the whole story-line/plot-line and all the action. The romance was adorable and had me blushing.

The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars was because sometimes I felt the story to be slightly rushed, but it wasn't that bad.

Definitely recommend this book to anyone over 18!

The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater
Genre: YA Fantasy
First Book Published In 2012

Synopsis:

“There are only two reasons a non-seer would see a spirit on St. Mark’s Eve,” Neeve said. “Either you’re his true love . . . or you killed him.”

It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive.

Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her.

His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.

But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.

From Maggie Stiefvater, the bestselling and acclaimed author of the Shiver trilogy and The Scorpio Races, comes a spellbinding new series where the inevitability of death and the nature of love lead us to a place we’ve never been before.
