The Photograph by Kristen Otte Review:

My rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

*Note: I recieved a copy of this book from the author on a R2R basis*

This story was pretty fast paced and got to the more important details fast. I don't know if I was a giant fan of that aspect. Though, the characters all seemed well developed and well organized. 

I wasn't a giant fan of the main character, Rachel. She was ify. Some times she was too cautious, other times not cautious enough. Some times she cared too much, other times she didn't care enough. It's like she couldn't make up her mind which way to go was best. 

I liked how Rachel's boyfriend, Brent, stuck with her through it all. Even when she didn't know she loved him. He seemed pretty loyal and caring. 

Though, my favorite character in this book would have to be Aunt Kate. She was the sweetest and nicest and coolest person in this book. 

In conclusion, this story was well thought out and would be a perfect, sweet mystery/romance for all those contemporary readers out there.

My Thoughts:

*Note: First Let Me Tell You That I Listened To The Audiobook Version Of This Book*

The narrator? You may ask. How was he? Did he portray Ed Kennedy spot on? Was he just as brilliant a narrator as the narrator of The Book Thief? My answer to all those questions are.. The narrator, Marc Aden Gray (I'm just going to call him Mr. Gray) was phenomenal! He brought a sense of feeling and passion, a sense of character and livelihood, a sense of real life, and that in it of itself made me (the reader) bond with the characters of this book and altogether the story. Mr. Gray deserves a million bucks for his performance with this book.

Now onto the story, the idea, and the message.

Let me flat out establish that I am not, and I repeat AM NOT someone who reads books within this genre. Distinctly, I hate this genre. But, there's something about the way Mr. Zusak writes and the way he grips his readers that I simply can not hate nor dislike and not even like his stories but love them with the same fervor as a child during story time. 

If you've already read The Book Thief, then you already know that Mr. Zusak's writing is completely and utterly unique and delivers underlying messages around every page. Most would even say that Mr. Zusak is an artist with words and a poet who does not stop once the page does. 

Just like The Book Thief, this book is beautifully written and powerfully ended. In complete honesty, I will recommend this book to you, yes you reading my review of this book right now, I challenge you, no dare you to read this book and tell me what you thought of it. Was it just as good as I'm describing it now? Was it a master piece worth every second of your time? I bet it was.

I feel like all you need to know going into this book is that there is a man, some cards, a message, and a question. 

There's not much else I can say that I haven't already. I can say that every single character in this book was perfectly written. I can say that I didn't want this book to end. I can say that every single message Ed Kennedy gave was beautiful and heart-capturing. I can say a lot of things, but it's best that I stop and let you read this book for yourself and know the greatness that is I Am The Messenger.

I've seen a lot of peoples reviews for this trilogy and most people love it. I've also seen the first book go on sale on Amazon.com plenty of times, but never got it.

 8. The Graceling Trilogy by Kristin Cashore

I've seen this book around a lot and have been really dying to read this trilogy, but when it comes time to buy new books, I either buy all sequels to series I already own or new releases and this trilogy never makes it into the cart.

7. The Dark Elements series/trilogy by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Everyone has been raving about this book and the author, but I just never picked this book up. I really hope one day I can see what all the rage is about this book and the author.                                               Description (from Goodreads): One kiss could be the last.

 6. The Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout

To be honest, I haven't read a thing by this author yet and I know that she is a popular author. She's even quoted my favorite author's (Jeaniene Frost) new book The Beautiful Ashes.

 5. The Selection Trilogy by Kiera Cass

I own the first book in this trilogy, but keep putting it off on my TBR list each month, I just really want to buy the last two books then marathon this trilogy before I start it.

I've never read a fairytale retelling before, but I've heard that this series of retellings is the one to read.

 3. The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo 

I own the first book and want to buy the last two books before I

start this trilogy so I can marathon it. Plus, it seems everybody has already read and adored this trilogy.

2. The Daughters Of Smoke & Bone Trilogy by Laini TaylorI've heard that this trilogy has been opted for film, plus everybody's read this trilogy. Description (from Goodreads): Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky.

1. The Throne Of Glass Series by Sarah J. Maas
Everybody has read this trilogy and everyone seems to love it. I've heard that this series is going to be a six book series, so got to see how this all turns out.
Description (from Goodreads): After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin. Daily Booktube-A-Thon Update #'s 5 To 7!

Well, Unfortunately, I only read two of the books I planned to read during Booktube-A-Thon. I feel pretty bad about it, but not really. During Booktube-A-Thon, I got to read and finish a lot of other books (mostly Read & Reviews). 

So, for Booktube-A-Thon, I read Eye Of The World Graphic Novel Vol., #1 by Robert Jordan, which was my book containing pictures pick. And Firelight (Firelight, #1) by Sophie Jordan, which was my red on the cover pick and series pick. Hopefully, by the end of July, I'll have read the whole Firelight trilogy. 

Anyways, I am really happy to say that I am one book shy of making my 55 books read in 2014, so excited! Maybe I really can make it to 100 books this year, who knows. 

So in concluding, Booktube-A-Thon really wasn't as big of a success for me as I was hoping it to be, but maybe during next years Booktube-A-Thon I'll be able to read more and maybe even do some of the challenges.

My review: 4 out of 5 stars: I quite enjoyed Lokte, it was a thrilling new idea that kept me interested all the way to the very last page. I went into this book thinking it was just going to be another 3 star read that bored me to death, but it didn't. I thought the characters were fresh and relateable, not too faky and filled with drama. I also enjoyed the writing style, not too fast paced but also descriptive enough to give the reader a sense of the story not being rushed. Overall I really liked this book and hope to read something new from this author again soon!

Daily Booktube-A-Thon Update #'s 3 & 4!

Well I'm almost done with Firelight by Sophie Jordan, Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak, and a few read to reviews that authors have sent me via email. Anyways, Booktube-A-Thon is blowing by really fast and I can't seem to catch up with my reading stats.. ugh. I'm just not as fast a reader as I thought I was. 

Also, I've started reading Alienated by Melissa Landers and The Selection by Keira Cass, I've heard that both these books are really good, hope that these books live up to that.

The Circuit: Executor Rising by Rhett C. Bruno Review:

I loved this book! I loved the characters, I loved the setting, I loved the idea. I loved everything! I didn't want this book to end, but sadly it did. Anyways, I'm a major dystopian fan and, this being dystopian, I couldn't of been happier to recieve a copy of this book. Although, I may confess that I was slightly confused at parts while I was reading this book, but as the book went on, things cleared up. Overall, I highly recommend this book! I'm even thinking about re-reading this book some time soon :)

Daily Booktube-A-Thon Update #2!

I finished my book with pictures in it early this morning (Eye Of The World Graphic Novel Vol., 1 by Robert Jordan)! Yay me, I've made some progress, lol! Now onto Firelight by Sophie Jordan (my red on the cover pick and series pick). Since this book seems relatively short, I should have it finished in no time.

Blackbird by Anna Carey

Blackbird is the first book in a new duology and is said to be perfect for The Maze Runner fans, The Darkest Minds fans, and the Legend fans. Just from the cover, this book looks like it's going to be dark and scary, and I am not a horror fan, but I adore this cover. Since I am a Darkest Minds fan, hopefully this story will appeal to me, if not then it's another beautiful cover added to my book shelves.

I wasn't a giant fan of Legend by Marie Lu, but I love this cover and after reading the synopsis of this book, I am utterly intrigued to see how this book plays out.

This book has been pitched as Game of Thrones meets Graceling, and although I haven't read or seen either I know that they are great books, so this one has to be too... right? Either way, the plot seems interesting and this cover is freaking gorgeous, so I have to buy it.

So I've heard this books about a secret time traveler... hmmm (*strokes fake beard*)  Hahaha, anyways, yes this book is about a secret time traveler and that very fact is a major factor in why I want this book. But, of course the real reason is that this cover may very well be one of the best covers ever designed, like ever.


6.) An Ember In The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
Expected Publication: April 28th 2015

I am a giant lover of anything and everything Roman and/or Greek. And the fact of this book being set in a Rome-like world makes this book a definite to-be-bought book. Also, yet again, this cover is amazing!

 

5.) In The Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken

And of course the highly anticipated final installment in the Darkest Minds trilogy. I don't think I need a reason for wanting this book.. No wait, I am positive that I don't need an explanation for wanting, craving, dying for, and pulling my hair out for this book.

First, let me just say that anything Mrs. Frost publishes, I will buy, no matter what. Also, I mean c'mon, how can anyone stay away from Vlad Tepesh? Hot, I mean  smoldering, I mean sexy, I mean perfect, I mean.. oh dear. Sorry guys, can't help myself! Anyways, this is the final installment in the Night Prince trilogy and I can't wait to see what happens!

         3.) Heir Of Fire by Sarah J. Maas
Expected Publication: September 2nd 2014

I must admit, I haven't read any of the Throne Of Glass books yet, but I already know I will love them. Also, this whole series is basically cover buys for me anyway, lol. They do have gorgeous covers. 



  2.) Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

To be honest, I don't exactly know why I have this book as #2 most anticipated books, but it is. I could just squeal with how much I love this cover! Also, the caption on the cover states "Power is a dangerous game" and doesn't that sound like the perfect story? Yes, I think it does.


     1.) Tiger's Dream by Colleen Houck
Expected Publication: 2015

This is the final installment in the Tiger Saga (FYI, The Tiger Saga is my favorite series of all time). Although, I felt like Tiger's Destiny had a hard, solid ending, Mrs. Houck has more to say, and I can't wait to dive into this book. Tiger's Promise (prequel novella) came out earlier this year and in the back of that novella was an excerpt from Tiger's Dream, and I almost literally died of pure untainted excitement when I read it. Kishan is making a return!!!! There isn't a cover yet for this book, but with how all the other Tiger's Saga book covers turned out, it's a safe bet that this cover will be just as gorgeous, maybe even more so.

So, I've started my Booktube-A-Thon TBR with Eye Of The World Graphic Novel Vol, 1 by Robert Jordan (which was my 'book with pictures' pick) and I am a quarter of the way through it. I haven't read The Eye Of The World by Robert Jordan yet, but since its graphic novel is quite interesting and gorgeous, I will be diving into The Eye Of The World quite soon. I've heard such great things about The Wheel Of Time series, my mom has been basically begging me to check out this series for years and I've recently found out that the first book (The Eye Of The World) has been optioned for film. So with all that in mind, I will be starting this series within this month. Can't wait!

I've also started reading The Testing by Joelle  Charbonneau, Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, A Job From Hell by Jayde Scott, and Control by Lydia Kang. I am so super behind on my reading schedule it isn't even funny! Hopefully I can finish all these books soon so they don't interfere with my Booktube-A-Thon TBR. 

I've also recieved another book to read and review by the author, adding to my slowly stacking pile of R2R's. But, it seems pretty interesting so I should be able to have my review of it up soon!

Also, I've decided to post reviews of my Booktube-A-Thon reads. I was debating on whether it was practical to take my time and write reviews of the books as I finish them when I'm on a timed schedule, but I've decided to make the time work. 

After I finish Eye Of The World graphic novel, I plan to move on to Firelight by Sophie Jordan (My series pick and Red on the cover pick).
